Sidney Grove in the heat and dust

Another pre-recorded playlist because it's too darn hot to go to the studio - lots of cooling tunes.

Record-breaking Adham Fisher on Culture Lab Radio

Adham Fisher, right, and Ian Wilson visit Culture Lab Radio
On the 24th of November, self-confessed train fanatic Adham Fisher broke the record for visiting every station on the Tyne and Wear Metro, visiting all sixty stations in two hours, fifty-six minutes and thirty-two seconds.

Fisher's record attempt was recorded for a documentary to be broadcast on Culture Lab Radio later this month. Keep an eye on the schedule and our Twitter feed for more details

Power failure - now fixed :)

Edit:

Aaaaand, we're back. Normal service is now resumed.

Look out for a new website and other exciting developments over the next few months (**rolls eyes mysteriously**)

----

Evening all. I'm afraid to say that we've had a power failure here at Culture Lab Radio Towers, which means we'll be off-air for a wee while. I can't say how long it'll last, but I'll be sure to update you all here, on Facebook and on Twitter when I can.

In the meantime, why not listen to Ellie and Oliver at http://www.ellieandoliver.co.uk/ ? They really are rather good :)

Sidney Grove Sunday returns

After a few weeks break from groundcutting and edgebreaking netcasting (without any fish being hurt) I have been prompted to return to your Sunday morning ears by the saddest event.

On Thursday evening John Kings died - you don't know him but I do. He spent the last 30 years working to improve the lives of rural Africans, latterly through the organisation run by himself and Mary his wife in South Africa, www.tsogang.org - I was privileged to help that work for a few weeks in 2009 after leaving Culture Lab.

John was an amazing bloke and we shared a love of music some of which I would like to share with you on Sunday.
